Extreme Free Music Trio, featuring Weasel Walter (ds), Martin Escalante (sax), and Tete Legere (b).
Weasel Walter runs his own label, ugEXPLODE, and is well known for his work with Hal Russell's group "The Flying Luttenbachers" and Lydia Lunch, as well as with ECM's well-known multi-instrumentalist, Hal Russell. His relentless, hard-hitting drumming takes Rashid Ali and Tony Oxley to the next level. Martin Escalante's saxophone is extraordinary and deserves special mention. You will not find a saxophonist in the world who can produce a sound like this. The latest CD "MNE is not NME" by the trio "MNE" consisting of T. Mikawa, Jun Numata, and Martin is also a great success. MNE is not NME" has also been very well received. Tete Legere's table-top bass also adds to the anomaly. The trio uses feedback, magnetic field disturbances, and the use of junk to deconstruct normal bass playing. The trio's sound has no dull roar, its density and dynamics vary, but there are no dull moments or inertia. No melodies, no beats, no ballads, no midtempo, no gestures.' Don't miss the crazy mass of sound of their "Katyusha" (ugEXPLODE), released in 22 years!
Toshimaru Nakamura
Toshimaru Nakamura, who does not input any sound into commercial mixers, but rather processes, modifies, and amplifies the mixer's self-oscillation and feedback to create his own extreme sounds, is currently appreciated more in Europe than in Japan, but he is also one of the most important figures in the improvisation, noise, and avant-garde scene not only in Europe but in Japan as well. He is the most important figure in the improvisation, noise, and avant-garde scene not only in Europe but also in Japan.
Jun Numata
In the late 1980s, Numata began playing in Kan Mikami's band with Otomo Yoshihide and others (bass guitar at that time). In recent years, he has switched to his original guitar and added electronics, moving freely around the improvisation and noise scene. His guitar style is enigmatic and swinging. He runs "doubtmusic," a label specializing in avant-garde music.
